Cub-o-ree — What a great time!!

What a great weekend with the scouts and parents of Pack 183 at the Seminole District “Creepy Crawlies” Cub-o-ree.  In addition to the games, gateway building, and fun every scout got to participate in at least one special activity:

–  2 great skits in front of over 400 people

– Iron Chef (yummy lizard skins….or..ummm chicken)

–  Tug-of-war

The scouts of Pack 183 won the Tug-of-war competition by going 6-0 and taking home the FIRST PLACE TROPHY.  Of course this means Pack 183 must return to the 2014 Cub-o-ree to return the trophy and also try and win it back again.  Everyone showed exceptional scout spirit all weekend and got into the mood with some improvised water pail drumming.

GREAT JOB EVERYONE!!!!

Summer Camp Save the Date – June 10 to June 14

The dates for the 2013 Cub Scout Day Camp have been announced:

June 10 – June 14 at Vista View Park

This is a great way to get a head start on the upcoming scouting year.  Each scout is officially considered at the next rank (i.e. Tiger now will be a Wolf) on the last day of the school year.  At camp, your scout will start working on requirements for his advancement for next year as well as:

  • Archery
  • BB Guns
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Kickball
  • Football
  • Basketball
  • Soccer

The link below gives more information and the pricing structure for the camp.  I’ve sent my son to this camp the past three years and volunteered as a den leader and support staff last year.  I can tell you that this is a fun, hot, and exhausting week but it is a lot of fun and the scouts have a great time with all of the activities.

2013 Pack 183 Pinewood Derby – Big Thank You

The 2013 Pack 183 Pinewood Derby is complete.  Everyone had a good time and the event ran very smoothly.  A very big thank you goes out to the parents on the Pinewood Derby committee who made sure everything ran well and everyone was entertained.  Thank you to Jody HessAmy HessJon Greenberg& Michael Romaniw for their time and commitment to making the 2013 Pinewood Derby a success.

A huge Pack 183 Thank You goes out to Laura Adams for getting the venue for the derby and all the help she provided to ensure a flawless derby.

Congratulations to all of the winners in each division.  Our fastest time down the track was just over 2.6 seconds.  Our “Most Fuel Efficient” winner had a time of 3.996 seconds.  I’ve never seen a car break 4 seconds down the track and we’ll have to wait another year to see a more fuel efficient car break the 4 second barrier.

Here are the results for those interested.
