Memorial Day Parade Information

All gave some….  Some gave all

Every year I ask the question “What is Memorial Day?” at a pack meeting and every year I get about 75% incorrect answers.  Most of our scouts and youth believe it is just a day off of school.  Some are partially right and say it is to honor our veterans.  Part of being a scout is honoring and respecting the flag.  That includes learning about and honoring those that respected it enough to give their lives for it.  I hope before everyone fires up the BBQ and jumps in the pool you can come out and join us with many others in the Town of Davie Memorial Day parade and ceremony.  Pack 183 will be proudly marching in this parade and will be observers of the service held at the Bergeron Rodeo Grounds afterwards.

Date:  Monday May 27, 2012
Time:  Please arrive for parade lineup no later then 9:30am
Location:  Nova Eisenhower Elementary School parking lot just south of Nova/BCC (Davie Rd & SW 39 St).  Map from Weston to Nova Eisenhower Elementary
We will be organizing on the north side of the school facing 39th street.
Dress:  Full Class “A” uniform
If you are new to Pack 183 and haven’t had a chance to purchase the full uniform please join us and have your scout wear the Pack 183 Class “B” blue t-shirt.
Schedule:  Line up – 9:30am
Parade step off – 10am sharp!!
Memorial Day Ceremony – 11am @ Bergeron Rodeo Grounds

We will have small flags for the scouts and siblings at the parade.  If you wish to bring your own please do so.

I am looking forward to seeing everyone out there this year.  If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.  My phone number is (754) 444-6813 for anyone that needs to reach me before or on the day of the parade.

May Pack Meeting

Our last pack meeting of the year will be this Friday May 17.  Please note that it will be at Camp Elmore (map below) starting at 7pm.  We will have gathering activities starting at 6:30pm.
As our last pack meeting of the year this is also our “graduation” pack meeting.  All Tigers, Wolves, and Bears who attend who have been in the program this year will receive their new rank neckerchief at this meeting.
