Dear Families of Pack 183,

POPCORN!  GET YOUR POPCORN !

Pack 183 is once again participating in our annual POPCORN Fundraiser!  Last year, our Gross Sales totaled $3,748.  We were in the top 30% Gross Sales in our District!  As a result, our Pack made a commission of $1,423.20. Collectively, our hard-working Scouts earned a total of $431 into their Scout accounts. With your help this year, we will once again yield high margins and your Scout and family will reap its benefits!!

Our POPCORN fundraiser helps Pack 183:

  • Scouts earn money into Scout Accounts to reduce/pay for activities.
  • Subsidize costs for our camp-outs
  • Cover the costs of our Pack Meetings

With funds raised this year, Pack 183 hopes to:

  • Purchase new tents for our Webelos.

How will Popcorn Sales work this year?

In order to have a successful fundraiser, we need everyone in the Pack to participate in two aspects of the fundraiser, PART 1, the INDIVIDUAL SALES and PART 2, the SHOW & SELL events.

PART 1:  INDIVIDUAL SALES:  This will be achieved through a combination of Take Orders, Military Donations, and Online Sales. Here are 3 ways to sell:

Step 1:  RIGHT NOW, you can get a head-start in POPCORN sales by Selling Online.  It’s the easiest way to make a sale to those who live a distance away but want to support your scout.  Please note that the items bought from your son’s family and friends, will be shipped directly to the buyer and will be subject to a flat rate shipping and handling charges.  **NOTE that your scout will get credit for all online sales from his family and friends, as long as the buyer picks his name from the list when choosing which scout they are supporting.

To Sell POPCORN Online:

i.      Go to www.trails-end.com

ii.      Click on the word SCOUTS (in Red) in the top Right Corner.

iii.      Click Create an Account.

iv.      Click SCOUT.

v.      Enter Date of Birth.

vi.      Fill in the information requested.  Please note that if a Scout is under a certain age, the parents will be contacted at the email listed for parent.  Click Sign Up at the bottom of the page.  Be sure to write down your username and password.

vii.      If the Scout is under age, the parent will receive an email.  The parents must click on the Activate Account button.

viii.      The Account must then be approved.

ix.      You will then be taken to a Log-On Screen.

x.      After you Log in, you will arrive at a screen where you can manage your online sales.

Step 2:  Show and Deliver – Scouts will be issued products of POPCORN from their Den Leaders after September 20th to Show and Deliver their neighbors and friends.  When you receive your POPCORN products, Parents will be asked to sign a contract/check-out form.

PLEASE NOTE:  This year we are contacting you early so that we can “Friendly-encourage” your family to submit $75 to Pack 183 when you check out your POPCORN products. The $75 is the cost of the POPCORN products.  By you fronting the $75, you are helping the Pack avoid countless hours of tracking down families, collecting the money. The good news is that the sooner you sell your POPCORN, the sooner you will get your $75 back. J

Step 3:  A “Take Order is when an order is placed using a sales sheet and products are delivered to the customer at a later date. Your Den Leader will provide you your order form after August 23.

PART 2:  SHOW AND SELL: New this year….we will have THE POPCORN DEN CHALLENGE!  All Dens will participate in Show & Sell events that the Pack will sponsor. Show & Sell, for those who have not yet participated, is a scheduled date on which your Den sells POPCORN outside a Publix, using POPCORN inventory purchased specifically for Show & Sell events.

New and Noteworthy:  This year we have 2 great opportunities to help support our communities both near and abroad! We will continue to sell donation gifts of POPCORN for our TROOPS and NEW this year…we will sell donation gifts of POPCORN for THOSE IN NEED to assist a local community food bank.

Here are the key POPCORN dates to remember:

  • Now – Start selling POPCORN Online.
  • August 17th – ROCKET DERBY – More information will be provided about our 2014 POPCORN Fundraiser.
  • August 24 – Take Order Sales Sheets will be made available through your Den Leader. *Note to your customers that POPCORN orders will be delivered to them between November 15 -28.

I am excited to see our Pack work together so we can make this year the most successful POPCORN Fundraiser yet!

Popcorn Sales Update- Sept 2013

Dear Pack 183,

This year’s POPCORN fundraiser is going to be both simple and fun for ALL!  Our official POPCORN Kickoff is scheduled, September 27, during our first Pack Meeting!

How will Popcorn Sales work this year?

At the Friday, September 27th Pack Meeting, each Scout will be given 4 bags of popcorn.  (2 bags of caramel / 2 bags of cheddar cheese).  It is your duty to sell these bags of POPCORN, as the proceeds are used to fund the awards the scouts earn throughout the year!  All scouts who sell these 4 bags of POPCORN will receive one raffle ticket and be entered into a drawing for prizes to be revealed at the September 27th Pack Meeting.  If every Scout sells their 4 bags of POPCORN….our Pack will reach their goal!!!  (You will collect money with the sale of each of these four bags!  Money will be collected at the October 18 Pack Meeting)

But why stop there??? What’s in it for you?

Would your scout like more chances to win prizes?

Parents, wouldn’t you like your scout to earn money that will be credited into their Scout Accounts?

Depending on how much popcorn products your Scout sells, this money could be used to help you pay for their yearly dues, summer camp, camp-outs etc.  It’s up to you in how you wish to use that money.  For every $50 above your 4 bags sold your scout will receive an additional raffle ticket.  That means more chances for your scout to win prizes!  Parents, your Pack Committee has voted and decided that 20% of your sales sold from your sell sheets as well as online sales (after the initial 4 bags of popcorn or sales equaling $50) will be credited to your child’s Scout account!!!!

How’s that for incentives????

How to sell?

First, sell your 4 bags of popcorn to friends, neighbors, co-workers.  (Reminder:  If everyone just sells, their 4 bags….the Pack will reach their goal!!!!!)

Want to exceed that goal….then…

  1. Use your order forms to Sell Trails-End’s large variety of Popcorn products to friends, family and neighbors!  If you have not yet received the Trails-End Order Form, then be sure to ask your Den leader to give you your form.  (Take orders first….Collect money when you deliver the popcorn product.  Customers can expect to receive their popcorn orders after November 15.  Don’t wait to deliver those orders!)
  2. Online sales is another option.  (Products offered online are limited, but can be a great option for those customers who wish to buy and support your Scout, but live miles away)
    1. Here are the steps:

  1. On the Trails-End Website…you can send emails to friends and family.  A link to the website to purchase products will be sent to your email recipients.  The products that are ordered will be mailed directly to the buyer.  Your scout will receive credit for this sale as long as the buyer selects his name during the transaction.  **NOTE:  Suggest to family and friends to give popcorn as holiday gifts verses other popular items such as cookies and candies.
  2. Sell POPCORN for our Troops – This sales program donates a gift of popcorn for our military men and women, their families, and veterans’ organizations.  Gold Donation $50 or Silver Donation $30 will be shipped to locations around the world!  Great cause, and a great way to also boost your personal sales! (Those customers who purchase this product will receive a Donation receipt….this is tax deductible.  Please let your Den leader know you have sold the Popcorn for Troops to receive a tax deductible receipt.)
  3. District Level Scout Rewards:  (In additional to our Pack incentives, our Pine Island District also has some great incentives!!!)
    1. Go for 30 – Those of you who are very ambitious, and fill up all 30 lines on their sales sheets will be entered into a drawing through our District Council.  Prizes include a Kindle Fire HD, a IPod Touch or a $200 gift card.  Drawings will be held, October 11 and 25.  Please show your Den leader your sales sheet so that your name is entered for drawing!!  (This may also include the online sales.  I will be sure to confirm.)
    2. $600 Club – When you sell at least $600 of popcorn you will receive a $20 gift card
    3. $1500 Club – When you sell at least $1500 of popcorn you will receive a $50.00 gift card

  1. Special Notes:
    1.  According to the scouting by-laws pertaining to fundraising, those who choose not to participate will owe the pack $50 which is the equivalent of the four bags of popcorn established by the Pack as a minimum goal for each scout.  Please know that our pack is directly funded by your dues as well as our much needed fundraisers.  PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR SCOUT!
    2. All Checks should be made out to Pack 183

MONEY COLLECTION:

1)      You must turn in your money for the 4 bags of popcorn at our October 18th Pack Meeting.

2)      All Scouts will also receive a stamped, addressed envelope.  Use this envelope to send all money you collected from your sell sheet sales.  DO NOT SEND CASH!  Please include all checks that were made out to Pack 183 from your customers and for any cash you received, you must create a check for that amount to be included. This envelope must be post-marked by Monday, November 25!  If the balance of your sales are not received in this timely manner, your Scout’s Account will be in default!
