October Pack Meeting, Friday 16th 630pm

Hello Pack 183,

A reminder for this Friday October 16th, 630pm at Manatee Bay.

The theme for the month of October is ‘A Scout is Brave’ one of the 12 scout laws, so the scouts will choose their superheros with special hero powers and show them off to the rest of the pack.

Along with the award recognition, the super hero activity and the popular raffle it will be a busy evening.

A reminder from Ms Jennifer, our fundraising chair, if you have any popcorn sell sheets completed then please bring them to the meeting to submit to Council.

Hope to see you all there

Regards

Lion Country Camp Out, October 2-4th

Hello Parents,
We are just a few days away from our first camping trip of the year… Lion Country Safari!
This email contains all the information you will need to make it a great weekend for you and your Scout.
I have attached a few documents for your review. There is a lot of information in this email and attachments!! Please read all of it!!!
First is a copy of our Meal Menu, we will be serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner on Saturday and Breakfast Sunday morning before we depart. Friday Night you are on your own so it’s a good idea to either eat before you get to camp or bring something to eat that night. If anyone has any special dietary needs, please review the menu and plan accordingly! Most families will also bring a small cooler with snacks and drinks for their family remember NO ALCHOLIC BEVERAGES are permitted at any BSA function. We will have Water and Lemonade coolers set up and available for everyone at camp at all times.
Second is the itinerary/duty roster for the weekend. Please review so that you know when your den has responsibilities for cooking, clean up, etc. the times we will be going to the park and drive thru safari. On Saturday we will be attending a Scout Workshop program at 10:00 AM if you are planning arriving on Saturday morning make sure you are there by at least 9:00 AM to have time to set up your tent and enter the park with the Pack, we must enter the park together as a pack at 10:00 AM.
Third is a suggested Supply list of items to bring for yourself and your family. If you are new to camping this is very helpful! Don’t forget, reusable plates, cups, bowls, and utensils for each member of your family. Water!! All Families please bring at least 2 gallon of water per person or up to 6 gallons per family for Pack use it will be warm this weekend and we will use all of it!! Firewood: We cannot collect wood in the area for use, so please grab a bundle from Publix or Home Depot this week and bring it with you!! Also there is a water playground inside the park, so bring proper attire and towels with you. As always, sunscreen is a must for all of our camping trips.
Fourth is a printable BSA Health Form we MUST have it on hand while camping, please print, fill out and bring it with you if you haven’t already turned one in this year. A new Health form is required every year so even if you filled one out last year we will need a new one.
Fifth are directions to the KOA Campground located directly next to Lion Country Safari. Drive time from Weston is around 1hr & 15min.
You can arrive as early as 4pm, but try not to be too late sunset is around 7:00 PM and there is not a lot of lighting in the camping area. Once you arrive at the park you will need to check in with a member of the camping committee and the KOA camp director at the KOA entrance then you will be given directions to the primitive campground, look for the Pack 183 Trailer on the left hand side of the road. Once there, a Camping Committee member will show you where to park, unload and direct you to where you will set up your tent. Due to the high number of families camping this weekend we will need to assign a tent spot to each family. We will be grouping dens together as much as possible, so be sure to ask where you should set up, before you begin.
*WEBELO FAMILIES: All Webelo Scouts should bring a self-inflating sleeping pad or similar as they will be sharing a two or three person tent with one or two other Webelo Scouts and an inflatable air mattress is too big.

I think we have covered everything, but if you have any questions please find anyone of our Camping Committee members, in the green pack shirts. We are more than happy to assist with any questions.

4th of July Parade, Weston

cubscouts4thofJuly

Pack 183,

A reminder for 4th July as we parade through Weston as part of the City’s celebrations.

We will please meet at 1000am along Town Center Blvd – look out for us with the Pack banner, flags, ‘Lets go Camping’ float/trailer. I hope to have our exact parade line up position soon and will send it out before Friday.

The parade starts at 1030am sharp, proceeds along Town Center Blvd, Three Village Road, a little of Bonaventure and through Main Street in Weston Town Center, route is under a mile in length and is over by 1115am

Please wear Class A uniform, bring water and your scout spirit – it’s pretty cool being welcomed into Main Street with all the crowds, dancers, other participants and the usual great spirit we all enjoy on this great holiday.

Everyone is welcome, scouts, siblings, parents, grandparents, other visiting family and friends, the more the better and it’s a great opportunity to promote scouting and our pack.

See you there

Regards

Final Popcorn Sales

Dear Scout Families,
I am in the process of closing out our Popcorn Sales Fundraiser! In doing so, I would like to take this opportunity to let you know that we do have 10 extra bags of Cheddar Cheese that have yet to be sold. In order for our Pack to neatly close out this fundraiser, I was hoping that your Scout family would consider purchasing one or more of these bags….perhaps for the upcoming holidays. Instead of sending your relatives those cookies via the mail….why not send a bag of Cheddar?
If you are interested in further supporting our Pack and your Scout, please contact me by Friday, November 1. Reminder: Cheddar Cheese bags are $15.
A special Thank you….to all the Scouts, Scout Families, Neighbors and Friends who have already been so supportive this year!

Yours in Scouting,
Jennifer Phillips
